Marine Brigadier General Daniel D. Yoo spoke about the contributions of Asian-Americans in the Marine Corps and other services and singled out 3 Asian-American military heroes in a speech at the 2012 Asian Festival in Cleveland, Ohio. His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with Gold Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon. He is a Marine Combatant Diver, a Military Freefall Parachutist, and a graduate of the U.S. Army Ranger School.
