The Order of the Silver Star is a veteran-led 501c3 non-profit that specializes in outreach programs and providing international humanitaria aid. They are staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers.
We caught up with Mark W. Chapman, President and Commander of the Order of the Silver Star on Public Square in Cleveland on May 10, 2025. He told us about their program AVSP – the American Veterans’ Sailing Program – to “bring the joy of sailing to veterans in the Great Lakes region through hands on experience” at no cost to them.
