The Cleveland Cultural Gardens hosted their 80th One World Day celebration on Sunday August 30, 2026. As always, the Parade of Flags was a highlight featuring about 1500 marchers from 57 heritages. Rain earlier in the day killed my camera so luckily Nick Mulbach and Johnny Wu from MDI Film shared this. It doesn’t have my usual zooming and steering away from people walking through but we are grateful to have it.
We are also grateful to our MCs from the 4 main TV stations: Tracy Carloss from WEWS, Kelly Dobeck from WOIO, Dontae Jones from Fox8 and Danielle Wiggins from TV3. The Parade committee was led by Angela Shute-Woodson and Dan Hanson. The steady drizzle caused some marchers and musical instruments not to march but it was still a very cool Parade. It began with the One Word Day banner, the Cleveland Police Color Guard and Cleveland Mayor Justin M. Bibb and Cultural Gardens Board Chair Dr. Wael Khoury.
Then the groups marched representing the following Gardens and communities: Hebrew, Scottish, Albanian, Italian, Filipino, Korean, Turkish, Lithuanian, Polish, Ethiopian, Armenian, Puerto Rican, French, Latvian, Irish, Swiss, Finnish, Syrian, Estonian, Lebanese, Brazilian, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Slovenian, Bangladeshi, Chinese, Iranian, Kazakh, Moroccan, Hungarian, Dominican, Greek, Carpatho-Rusyn, Mexican, Palestinian, Iraqi, Serbian, Pakistani, Romanian, Japanese, Slovak, Russian, Czech, Uzbek, Colombian, Indonesian, Jordanian, Indian, German, Croatian, British, Liberian, Cameroonian, Native American, Peruvian, Haitian and African American. Watch.
